Position Overview

Delta Contracting Inc is looking for a couple of Water truck Drivers to work our Asphalt Milling Season.  Join our team as a water truck driver and play a vital role in safely transporting water to support our construction projects while getting tons of overtime. 

Essential Job Duties

  • Safely operate a water truck to transport water to and from the milling machine job site and designated locations.
  • Connect water hose from fire hydrant or other water source to the water truck, and attach the hose from the truck to the milling machine for water filling.
  • Assist in controlling the milling machine’s cutting depth and walking alongside the machine during operation.
  • Use a shovel to clear millings that may obstruct the milling machine’s operation.
  • Mark out manholes and water valves with spray paint to avoid interference with the milling machine.
  • Help in changing carbide teeth in the milling machine using traditional or pneumatic hammers, including lifting and moving bit boxes heavy boxes.
  • Perform related duties such as preventive maintenance on the water truck.
  • Ensure efficient working condition of equipment, performing minor servicing and maintenance or reporting major issues to the supervisor.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of company vehicle, tools, and equipment, and promptly report any safety concerns to management.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Class A or Class B driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Must have the ability to travel for overnight work for extended periods
  • Experience in operating water trucks or similar heavy equipment preferred.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting heavy objects up to 50lbs and operating hand tools.
  • Strong attention to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Flexibility to work in varied weather conditions and irregular hours if necessary.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

  • Must tolerate working environment with outside temperatures that include excessive heat, cold, wind, and precipitation.
  • Must be able to work outside, around moving objects, vehicles, and machinery with moving parts.
  • Must be able to push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds to an overhead position.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and twist body.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to use both hands and demonstrate good hand-eye coordination.
  • Tolerance to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
  • Potentially exposed to contaminants, such as dust or fumes from exhaust; frequent exposure to hazardous equipment.
  • Occasionally work in very bright or very dim lighting conditions.
  • Are sometimes exposed to hazardous situations that produce cuts or minor burns.
  • Occasionally are exposed to whole body vibration, such as when using a jackhammer.
  • May need to work in tight/confined spaces or work areas.
  • Must be able to regularly wear personal protective equipment, including hard hats, safety goggles, safety vests and/or ear plugs.
